ACCA Manual J – Builders
The Air Conditioner Contractors of America (ACCA) Manual J (8th Edition) Residential Load Calculation is the most widely recognized and building code-approved method for calculating room-by-room and whole-house heating and cooling loads. The days of using a “rule of thumb” approach to measure an HVAC system is long gone.
ACCA Manuals J and S must be performed and submitted on every home in order to acquire a building permit. Per the Mechanical Section of the 2015 International Residential Code (IRC):
“M1401.3 Equipment and appliance sizing. Heating and cooling equipment and appliances shall be sized in accordance with ACCA Manual S or other approved sizing methodologies based on building loads calculated in accordance with ACCA Manual J or other approved heating and cooling calculation methodologies.”
Our trained and certified professionals will help you complete a successful Manual J calculation and ensure that the system will work as intended. Using ACCA-approved Wright Soft® software, they will work closely with you to gather the necessary construction plans and specifications from your client.
